Newspaers going out of business

I went to a meeting this evening and one of the things that was said was this gentleman did not take the local paper. I admit it did not have much in it most of the time and what I see on the internet is 3 to 5 days ahead of what I read in the paper. Also according to what I read most newspapers are printing strictly local info. I cost less to have reporters locally. The big newspapers are getting rid of the overseas bureaus. People do not read the as much as they do except there are big book sales. Teachers in our public schools teach reading as a subject but since they only teach word reading how can they come out of school wanting to read for understanding. I will say one thing and that the internet has more knowledge to be found than any newspaper would print. In that sense maybe the public is better depending on the research coming off the internet. People go to Doctors and in many cases get the run around and watching some of the shows on TV, with out the research done by ordinary people maybe the people would not get medical care. Reading is really necessary if people want to learn and pictures on TV is just like watching a movie. I do not suppose the American public will get back to Reading especially if the Reporters do not write more informative articles with words that are direct to the point. I take the Scientific American and so many articles are like reading -ring around the rosy and it takes too many words to explain something at times. I am sure I am getting to the point but it is too bad what is happening to knowledge that is required to keep our freedom if people do not start to read from the 5 questions and try to learn what is going on.

The spat between Clinton and Oboman

It is strange but not a problem understanding the media in this squabble. It is strange if the something happens in Democratic party the commentators make a big deal over it. Of course the media is owned by big corporations and guess who they want and it is the republican who they buy out and control. They have had many things to dicuss about the Republicans but they do not or make a once discussion and that is it. Again if it is the democratic then silly things go on for days. It becomes a propaganda machine against the Democrats. I remember what they did to Senator Kerry and the phony swift boat crews that got free time on the media for days. Yet Bush had all the fall time with the military and yet nothin really came out of it. and of the problems the Bush Family had the savings and loan scandal that went on under the Reagan administration. Let us look at the time that Bush went to war into Iraq- did the Media help - no they helped Bush go to war on lies. Is it not time that the media becomes a little more even sided. If the media wants to keep their freedom then it is time they quit being one sided and start investigate the Republicans too. I think it is time somewhere there should be another Teddy Roosevelt and help break up the big corporations that is controlling our lives and trying to destroy our freedom and being middle class citiizens. I always bring this up and there has to be a change in our public schools and start having a decent grade school that leads our students into knowledge and not just holding their hands. I always mention because that is really our only salvation in the end.

Weather and chickens ?

There is talk about weather changes and earth warming. Weather sure is changing as one day it is warm next day it is below zero or tons of snow. The one effect of the warmer weather is what is happening to insect. It does not kill off eggs etc of insects such as jiggers etc. So what happens the next spring and as they come out and bite people and of course desease starts to spread. Of course if we over hunt pheasants etc they do not get the ground insects. This reminds me of teacher that used to keep chickens and would turn loose the chickens in the new area to be gardened. She never had trouble growing her crops as the chickens did their duty-what. So chickens have their job and they are not used anymore. The chickens do not taste the same. I do miss the old fashion chicken soup but never again.

California's prison system troubles

It seems like California has too many people in the prisons. This is not only true of California but most other states in the US. For every little thing people want to send people to prisons. Can we afford such a system that we are getting. First thing there will be debtor prisons too. There has to be a way (computer systems) that people after a certain amount of time that prison records need to be erased. But just think if we went back to old school systems with very high levels in grade schools and a certain amount of corporal punishment in grade school intead of way our grade schools are operated then young people would grow up to be good adults. I really think our public school system with the type of educators that we have in our school system(or should I have so call educators with their psycology back ground etc ) is actually helping to fill our prisons with the people that are coming out of grade school not being prepared for adulthool and or high school and colleges. I really wonder if we poured money into a different type of schools and set real standards -- it is hard to prove but I think this would help our people from doing things that set them to go to prison. It might even be better if we set up our prisons as real teaching units instead of places to put wild animals or as so many of the prisoners become. Even when people come from prisons - the law will not let them or they set up so many rules against them that most of them seem to wind back up in prisons and get worse. Many of these people are not dumb individuals and there is a need for to be able to use for this country.

Iraq surge problems

Does president being So call commander in chief decides that he is a dictator -I dod not think so. there is rumors that he is also comtemplating going into Iran anyway back to Iraq - will 20 thousand troops who are not fress really be able to slow down the civil war between the different group especially the way the moslems think about going to heaven with 10 virgins. From what I listen to various generals etc have said - there is a need for 100 thousand or more troops to go in to pacify the groups. That is not possible with the amount of people available.Then there is another factor where is the money coming from?Unless there is a change in taxation, the change in the way corporations are going and the middle class which the Bush administration is trying to destroy etc there is not an economy on which to grow more wars.The governments both state and federal are trying to sell our assets in order to survive such as the ports,toll roads etc and the working man is not making enough money to buy anything and credit cards is not the answer- somebody has to pay the bills.Again the question is can this country afford to go to war anymore. There is not any military and since ww2 has been going down hill. Eccept for a few students we do not have a public school system as the best students come from the Orient. I could go on but I really Wonder I Pres Bush has any intellligencefor a president. Again the Republics spent 150 million on Clinton because of sex and here a President lied about reasoning for going into Iraq. I did not like the Dictator but it least he was a thorn in Iran's want of expansion ( not sure that is the word) but anyway. Now there is a huge problem in the middle east without any answer especially since Russia is starting to cause problems again. Have fun trying to decipher these ideas.

1st grade educastion

I looked in this morning's paper and they were talking about education and of course so call test scores and guess what I saw . A picture of a first grader using a calculator to Learn to count on her fingers. I have written before about our so call education and lack of decent educated or should I say ignorant grade school teachers. If our so call grade school teachers can not find away to get children to learn then these so call teachers need to quit their jobs and let us just use high school graduates to lead these children in real learning. I watched when Hillary Clinton was in Iowa I believe and she had so call Teachers in her audience and they were asking for more money plus some talking about taking special care of children's needs and I sent her an article aboujt what I thought was wrong and of course I talked about our unedicated teachers. I never got any answer but if these are going to run for then they ought look into where thne troubles but I guess she would not win if the truth would be publised and actually discussed it out in the open. Oh well My generation was known as the greatest generation ww2 types but they sure did not have an education like there is today.
