College education

We have an amazing system of education. We are now finding out that 30 to 60 percent of College students can not read or decipher books. How can they graduate from Colloge. Yet our local public schools want to tax, tax, and tax more. our so called teachers have degrees but in what- finger painting. Why don't we throw out our so call teachers and start from scratch. When I was a kid- very few grade school teachers had degrees. We had hour classes,we had real history geography, etc in grade school. I had Latin in the 9 th grade yet today it is barely a college course. The courts in Kansas have demanded that we pay more taxes for the schools that are not any good. I do not care how strong the teachers union is - something is wrong, wrong, and wrong. What can this country do to make our schools into something that produces results. Money is sure not the answer. They tell me that the standards for grades are now 60 for a "C" when I was a kid that was flunking. I could go on but people please investigat and fight to do something about our country. And according to latest statistics it sure can not be college graduates because figures are coming out that say -college students can not read.
