The downfall of the Neighborhood asoc

I just happen to hear a conversation about why the Neighborhood associations are going down hill. With out the Police working with groups full time, it seem like it is harder and harder to get people involved. Of course the local police want all the police people in cars patrolling the streets. The one that I have been involved in does not and can up it seems to people to participat as the Local police being heavenly involved seems to draw people. It is too bad because the neighbor hood liason seems to get things down and helps cut crime. We used to have a neighborhood patrol so when people parked their cars on lawns and this was in cooperation with the police they could spot things that the normal police in their cars can not. It is too bad this program is shot as it really works and cut out problems in the neighborhood. A good example was a lady who is dead well anyway she the community policeman to get help and we cleaned up around the fence and helped to cut the Drugs next door. I know this situation caused jealleosy amoung the fellow officers but it sure did the job. it even worked as a liason with the schools to cut the troubles. All we have is old people and we are getting to old and tired and we can not get new people to come in but when we had the Liason of the neighborhood police to help get organized and it was good training for the policeman as he or she got to know where the trouble spots were and could do a little organizing to to do something with out everything going to hell before the City will do something. Oh well I hate to see something go down hill that was good but that is the way things seem to go.
