Job fair for Lts and Capts in the Military
There is an article in the last issue of Fortune Magazine about hiring young Officers in their 30's by the Fortune 500 companies. Most of those that they chose were gradates of Institutions like West Point and Naval Academy. Most of those selected were Combat experience officers that had went on to get MBA's. It seemed like the Experience in Iraq or Afganistan leading platoons,etc and doing things that were beyond the normal duties of Platoon Officers. This is a case where the NCO's knew more than the Officers leading them but these Officers were smart enough to let the NCO's teach them. I learned that a long time ago when I was a TEC REP that when I was on base that there were NCO's that could teach me. Maybe the troops coming out of the Combat in Iraq and Afgansistan will become our leaders in the USA. We sure need them. There are other ways of learning leadership and that is get involved in Politics and start out by being a Precint Committee person and learn to work the Precint and later become a Ward Chairman. The person doing this does Meet people and Lean the knowledge to become a leader. Just think to just make a better living. Anyway I thought it was interesting the Article about these people that was hired by these Companies and why they were hired. Don
