Leadership in Iraq and here

There is an article in Foreign Affairs that might prove interesting if people would read it. Part of the article brought up a point that The American Military are rotating Generals etc . How can Iraq be won if there is a constant rotation of General Officers. If the General succeeds - then he or she should be left over there. if the general is not succeeding then then he or she should be sent home. This country needs leaders whether military or civilian . Where are these leaders to come from. Since most elected congressman and even state leaders usually represent Corporations - how can they be leaders for the US. A good example if Senator Frist who family is the HCA Corporation-How can he represent the American people? Is a piece of paper more important than experience and common sense? Are we not losing out in leadership whether it is corporations,military and Government? Another example is our grade school teachers that have a piece of paper from a so call teacher's college - yet our kids are losing every year. There definetly has to to be a change in leadership in Iraq and the Defense Department if we are to succeed . Matter of fact we ought to bring back the draft and let everyone have a part in the decisions that are made. We really need to good leadership and under the present conditions where are we to find them.

Voting

An article about voting in Afganistan gave a thought about Voting in the US. There needs to be a change. it would be great to have our voting days be extended to 2 days. The idea would help solve some of the problems that have arisen. It would have helped the Florida situation that allowed the Supreme court to appoint Bush the first time. The mess that was in Ohio in the last federal election. The other idea would be to have election on a weekend again 2 days. It is time for a change if there is to be better results. The above problems also would help to eliminate a one party Government that we have at the present time. The one party government includes the Supreme Court and that is a bad situation. One party government leads to dictatorship. In California there is an inititve on the Ballot to basically have the union members ok whether the money should be spent on Politics- The question arises should not the Stock holders also vote as to whether a corporation spends money on politics or naming a stadium,etc Maybe wages would go up and this country would have a higher standard of living. Maybe the stock holders would vote as to how much the CEO's get from corporation- include benefits when the CEO's leave a company. There are all kind of ideas that need to be processed.

Education

I watched a show on PBS this evening about the outsourcing of jobs to India and the effect of what is happening over there. One of the things that is drawing the jobs besides cheap labor is amount of engineers and scientist that are graduating either from their schools or even from the colleges in the US. Our average student from the US graduates from college with a liberal art degrees, such as teacher degree( in my opinion a very low grade degree- the course consists of low grade Psycology and Sociology- no math, no history etc.) Moyer and his guest brought up about what our students are prepared for and that was degrees like English,etc but the students that was taking the rough courses like math, science were from Asian countries. I have said this before- if this country wants to survive - our grade schools have to change- our grade school teachers have to take tougher courses and our so called educators have to be something besides Psychologist and Sociologist. Our public schools would be better off with educators that were ignorant of children's abilities. Learning is not always an easy approach- Memorization is not learning- being able to picture what is needed to be done is more important. I showed a lady today a little prblem today that she could work with her daughter who was 10 ten- anyway - 2(3-2) plus3(6-5) etc, with out the use of pencil, paper or use of fingers. There has to be a way to go back to using the head for a change. This is our only was to start the reverse of outsourcing. The world will suffer if the consumer market in this country goes under since the loss of manufactoring jobs has been what have made us the market. The national government does not believe in taxing the Corporation of the profits that they are making out of the outsourcing so where does this country going? Wake up America

Lou Dobbs of CNN

I watched Lou Dobbs on CNN channel 25 - and I am slowly losing respect . Lou Dobbs talks alot about our problems and he has brought many of them out in the open. I have to respect CNN for what they showed about the gulf coast and the problems. But there is a problem about all these gentlemen on TV. None of these people bring up the fact that we have a total Republican Government whether it is in the White House, Congress, or the Supreme Court. Any way Dean the Democratic Chairman was on Wolf Blitzer program and normally Wolf tries to trick anybody that is not Republican. He interviewed Dean and tried to trick him into saying things that would hurt the Democratic Party. Wolf did not get by with it. Lou Dobbs brought up a statement that supposed ly Dean had said. What Lou Dobbs said was wrong and I think deliberately into trying to cover up the troubles that belong on President Bush and the Republican door step. What Dean was talking about the poor that was left behind and he did not just say race problem. The poor are being left behind not only the Governemt but the poor kids apparently do not stand a chance in our school system. I think it is time for the Media start being truthfull to the American People. Republican will not be truthful to the American People as they have sold out to Corporations and the Rich. If you check into the Labor Dept and apparently they are covering up, as they sure do not represent the Laboring man. The problem is that the Media is owned by big business and in so many cases that is who they want to represent. Oh well - have fun

Supreme Court

The nomination of Judge Roberts to be Chief Justice will have disasterous Results to the American people along with a Justice replacing Justice O'Connor. There goes our freedom in this country. These people represent Corporations and ultra right Religions. History tells us that The Corporations will use these groups to vote away our rights under the constitution. Justice Roberts supposedly looks for states rights but it is only done when the states can used to destroy the rights of American people. Local politicians can be bought off very easy. If the voting records are looked at - local elections get very few voters. The average person does not realize that the local elections mean anything. And in some ways they do not. If people would get involved in the Neighborhood assoc. things could change. The average person because of Television looks to the Federal Government. People do not realize what is going on. With the Supreme court in the hands of people that are trying to destroy our freedom, it is a bad situation. One party governement does not work. Check the history of Germany,Russia, and of course the Arabs countries (under control of the Islamic Religion). Is that what we want? Do we really want the christian religion controlling our every thought and action? (What about the Black period of Europe from 300 to about 1500?) People might start to think about who is put on the Supreme Courts. Legal people in so many cases do not know the answers and usually represent the rich and powerfull. The question is -Is our democracy departing this country? Whenever policies go away from the middle- then things happen the wrong way. The only answer is that people need to get back to studying history and the way the rich and powerful use just words get power.

Gasoline prices and oil shortage

Is there Gasoline shortage. Is there an oil shortage? Have the oil companies with the help of the administration conspired to make a lot of money? I was told many years ago that Gasoline was essentially a by product. If the oil companies do not sell it then it has to be burned as it can not be stored. I think this was proven during the Carter Administration. An oil analist said there was so much oil out there as the oil companies are finding new places and new way to get oil out of the ground. This gentleman said if the public can hold out- the world will see 20 dollar a barrell again. The country needs to know who the vice president had as his advisors for the Energy bill that just went through Congress. In many ways the Supreme Court no longer represents the people and if president Bush gets his way - it will even be less than it is now. People need to start reading the news and I do not mean just the local newspaper or local TV- the information is not there.

New Orleans

I will start by saying the human race can not fight nature. There is the wrong people in the White House, in the Congress, and now the Supreme court. When the people of America have a single party in the Government and these people owe their allegiance to Corporatiions and the rich then this is the result. Any time The President, the Congress, and the Supreme Court take an Oath of to support the Constitution they should be the Government of all the people not to their supporters. President Bush said now that he has support for his program and with the help of Congress to put it through. His program was tax breaks for his supporters, cut the enviormental laws, etc. The speech given to public about the Gulf problem and the shortage of gas was to the let the refineries put out poluted product that would polute the Air. New Orleans is losing the ground to the oceans south of the City - The question is - Did Pres Bush and the Republican congress care - of course not - as the funding was cut. Now the cost of the clean up and rebuilding will cost cost 100 times more. There has to be a Government in Washington that cares about the American people.There has to be an education system that honestly knows how to set levels and understand what an education means. This would in the end cost the Government less. We have to accept ways to get along with nature if we want to survive. People need to turn off TV except if they do research on the article first, and start to read subjects like history, Geography ,etc and never stop- even though they might have degrees as the initial course means nothing- to learn the subject has to be continually added too, other wise we will continually have the problems that we are having and keep on electing the wrong people or not demanding that they do the job.
